Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is a world renowned university in the field of Agriculture and has been designated as one of the six research Universities in Malaysia. The University’s Faculty of Food Science and Technology established in 1976 is among the oldest Faculties in the University and pioneer in Food Science and Technology studies in Malaysia. It is highly rated for research and other academic activities in the field of Food Science and Technology in Asia. In order to further its aspiration for global reach and to foster collaborations, we are organizing International Food Research Conference (IFRC 2017) with the theme “Emerging Challenges in Food Research" as an international event that will strengthen the networking between the Faculty and the University with its global partners.
The IFRC 2017 is a platform to meet and share experiences among academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, local and international experts who are involved food research. This international conference will be held from 25 to 27 July 2017 at the Complex of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Universiti Putra Malaysia, 43400 Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia.
The IFRC 2017 will include presentation of research results, discussion in plenary sessions, poster sessions, and panel discussions related to the field of food research. Plenary sessions and discussion will be delivered by a panel of renowned international and local experts in food and related fields. Free workshop will also be provided. The conference focuses on seven main themes: Food processing and post-harvest technology, food bioprocessing, food safety and quality, functional food, food service and management, heritage food, and halal food.
The important deadlines for the IFRC 2017:
Abstract submission - 30 April 2017
Abstract acceptance notice - 15 May 2017
Submission of full paper - 7 June 2017
Paper acceptance notice - 20 June 2017
Camera ready paper submission - 1 July 2017
Final registration - 1 July 2017
There will be four types of presentation at the IFRC 2017:
1) ORAL PRESENTATION
Oral presentations will allow participants to share the findings of their researches with all participants present.
2) POSTER PRESENTATION
Poster presentations will allow the interested participants to share the findings of their researches in the Conference in the form of poster. The presenters will have the opportunity to present their researches to the appointed judges. Prizes will be given to the top three posters.
3) VIRTUAL POSTER
Virtual poster presentations will allow participants who can’t travel to share the findings of their researches in the Conference. This is an exciting program that will enable researchers and students to present their works in an electronic format of poster (pdf) according to the given format. Virtual poster will be not eligible for competition.
4) 3-MINUTES ORATORY COMPETITION (MOC)
3-Minutes Oratory is a competition that will be held during the Conference for the undergraduates to show their eloquence or skill in making speeches in public. Undergraduate students in Food Science and related fields from all countries will be eligible to participate in the competition. This special event will give students a platform and opportunity to share their views in Food Science and related Undergraduate fields to a wide audience. A relevant topic will be given to each participant 30 minutes prior to competition. Prizes will be given to the winner and all participants will receive a certificate.
All accepted abstracts with full papers will be published in the Conference’s Proceeding CD with International Standard Book Number (ISBN). Selected papers will be recommended for publication in “International Food Research Journal; Special Issue”, Malaysia’s prestigious journal that is ISSN-Scopus indexed journal. The IFRJ is also indexed in EBSCO, CHEMICAL ABSTRACT, ProQuest, CABI, AGRICOLA, WORLD ISLAMIC SCIENCE CITATION, and MYCITE CITATION Report.
